Nigel has been appointed in nearly 450 disputes as an adjudicator, arbitrator, mediator, expert determiner, or board panel member. With extensive experience across construction, engineering, infrastructure, and property, he brings a deep level of expertise and strategic insight to every dispute resolution and avoidance process.

Experience & Expertise

Nigel founded the firm in 2005, incorporating it as Davies & Davies Associates Ltd in early 2008. Since then, the practice has steadily expanded, offering expert guidance and support to construction professionals facing high-risk contracts, complex projects, and contentious disputes.
As both a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Solicitor-Advocate, Nigel possesses a unique combination of commercial, technical, and legal expertise. Having worked for both leading building contractors and specialist law firms, he provides an invaluable perspective that integrates practical industry knowledge with legal acumen.

With over 30 years of experience in the construction sector, Nigel began his career as a Quantity Surveyor, working across diverse projects before transitioning into consultancy and law. His work spans a broad spectrum of clients, including employers, architects, main contractors, and specialist subcontractors, delivering commercial, contractual, and legal services across construction, engineering, infrastructure and property.

Nigel has worked on major commercial, infrastructure, and residential projects, including:

  • Leisure & public sector projects (sports complexes, social housing)

He is highly experienced in standard and bespoke contracts across the construction and civil engineering industries, including JCT, NEC, ICE, FIDIC, and their associated methods of measurement. His work includes:

  • Providing contractual & commercial advice
  • Delivering seminars & training
  • Mediation & dispute resolution
Dispute Resolution & Adjudication

Nigel is a Chartered Arbitrator, Adjudicator, and Mediator, actively involved in resolving disputes through adjudication, arbitration, and mediation advocacy. He also represents clients in contentious and non-contentious construction matters.

Nigel is panel-registered as an Adjudicator with:

  • RICS, TECSA, CIArb, RIBA, CIC, ICE, FIDIC and UK Adjudicators

He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a recognised mediator, available for appointments across the UK, Ireland, and internationally.
Nigel has notable experience in arbitrating Pubs Code disputes and a thorough knowledge of the SBEEA and the Pubs Code.
